Steven Schmidt is the Vice President of Customer Experience at Matt Jensen Marketing.
After graduating from South Dakota State University, Steven found his way to Minneapolis and began a successful technology sales career. For the past five years, he has helped lead and grow T-Mobile’s non-profit public sector division, focusing primarily on education and bridging the “digital divide” for students—connecting technology devices, staff training, and best practices to create digital options for schools and students to learn and thrive.
Steven’s passion in work and life is “to connect as many people as possible to as many people as possible”—whatever the circumstances, whatever the costs, and whatever the means. Building human connections and finding common ground is where he has seen healthy relationships and work thrive and grow.
“When you find people that are disconnected, people feel isolated, they feel alone, and they can feel very misunderstood,” Steven says. “If I can work against that disconnection—if I can help people feel understood and important, connected to others, that to me is the best kind of fulfilling work, both personally and professionally.”
Steven prides himself in being very present in his work and with his team—quick to communicate, respond, and solve problems together. He focuses on full engagement with teams and clients to ensure everyone understands the value and connections of the work and no projects or team members function or act alone. A sense of fun permeates Steven’s work and relationships—the kind of joyful fun that results from true connection and purpose-driven work.
“I love the idea that what I can do both personally and professionally, the connections I help create, will have a ripple affect and be felt beyond my own measure. People far beyond those I will ever meet will benefit from good work created by good people and teams, and that’s exciting.”
